TMF AWARDS TO
GRANTEES
Are you a practicing journalist
or media institution that was a beneficiary of a Tanzania Media
Fund (TMF) grant? Did your story,
covered because of a TMF grant, result in increased
accountability?
Award
description
TMF expects to recognise and
award 12 of its past grantees - five institutions and seven
individuals – for work that has
had a demonstrable accountability impact.
The award categoriesare listed below:
Individuals Institutions (one
award each)
· Rural dispatch
(three awards)
· Fellowship
(three awards)
· New media (one
award)
· Print
· Radio
· Television
· Independent
producers
· Online/new media
How to apply
Tell us in not more than 500
words what your story, story series or programme was about, its
public interest value and how it
contributed to accountability. An attached copy of your work
will be an added advantage.
Criteria for
applicants to satisfy
1. Must have been a TMF grantee.
2. Must have successfully
completed his or her project within the required time or have been
given an extension by TMF.
Beneficiaries found to have failed to do so will be disqualified.
3. Must be able to make a link
between a public interest or investigative journalism story (or
story series) they did through a
TMF grant and a subsequent change that promotes
accountability. Institutions may
submit a programme episode or other media output.
4. Individual applicants must
still be practicing journalists and institutions must still be in
operation to qualify. Retired
journalists will be considered.
Assessment
Applications submitted will be
reviewed for authenticity and ranked in terms of TMF guidelines
on quality, such as but not
limited to, level of analysis, use and variety of sources and data,
background information provided,
clarity and comprehensiveness and balancing.
Deadline
Applications close on 20 July,
2015 and winners will be announced and awarded at an event that
will be held in September, 2015.
